Change 4 life!

Ok So channel 4 have been advertising an NHS website for a few weeks now called Change 4 life

It gives lots of great tips and advice for changing the whole family's health for the better. I ordered myself a free welcome pack and when it arrived I was pleasantly surprized to find a sticker chart. I stuck it straight on the kitchen wall last wednesday and called a family meeting.

"Right everyone, this family is getting healthy! OUT with the crisps & choccy and IN with fresh fruit & Veggies!"

Everyone was very happy except for Miss K "Thats just so unfair mum...I hate you!"
Gosh...I think her reaction was just a little over the top...dont you? Oh well she will get over it.

I told them all that everytime they eat a fresh piece of fruit of veg they are to add a sticker next to their name. The person with the most stickers beside their name at the end of the week is the winner and each week I will be presenting a small prize to the winner!

Anyway Miss C won yesterday and very pleased with herself she was too, especially for winning a prize.
Miss K had the least stickers because she is going through a phase of not eating fruit & veggies. She was furious that she lost and begged for a prize just like C's.
I told her. "K, You have to be in it to win it!" Oh dear...she wasnt impressed!

This Is What The Women Do In Appledore

This picture shows you what the women do in my village to keep fit.
Every saturday a group of them row, row & row.

I think they are so brave to go out in this cold winter weather.
Dont let that sunshine fool you, it was bitter cold!

Lessons Learned

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?”
“It was great, Dad.”
“Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked.
“Oh yeah,” said the son.
“So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father.
The son answered: “I saw that we have one dog and they had four.

We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
“We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
“We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
“We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.”
The boy’s father was speechless.
Then his son added, “Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.”

Enjoying Our New Fitness Routine!

Ok, so if days had personalities then todays would be "A Split". After Lunch I set off on my walk as part of my new fitness routine. Hubby and Master N joined me. It was quite a dismal day and after about 45 mins of walking the heavens opened so we headed home. An hour later I nipped to the local shop and the weather had transformed into this.

Of course because you know that I have an addiction to my camera.
I never leave home without it.
As I gazed at the boats on the water.
I spotted what looked like a giant lollipop, floating upside down.

Amazing how when you are dieting everything you see looks so edible.

Then about an hour ago I was relaxing at my window with a nice hot cuppa and was greeted with this view.

It really has been a day of full of change. Oh and my walking has paid off.
I've lost 4lb and I'm not at the end of week two yet!

Healthy New Routine

So far my News Years resolution to get fit, healthy & slim is going well. I feel really strong and determined. My will power is in gear and even though the weather was miserable I still went for a nice long coastal walk.

This field was covered in molehills.

This path covered in mud.

And this view so peaceful and serene.

Another breathtaking view that reminds me of why I am living in this beautiful part of the UK.
A glimpse of our village church.

And a reminder of days of old. This tiny street is the old high street but apart from a tea room all the other little shops sadly sit empty. I imagine this street was at one time the focal point of the village brimming with lots of hustle and bustle.
I arrived home feeling, cold, wet, exhausted and full of life.
Cant wait to do it again!

A Winter Walk

Woke up this morning feeling really cold but Miss K dragged us out into the blustery, winter weather because she wanted her hair cut.

Outside was bitter cold and windy. I was wrapped up with thick jumpers, coat, scarf & gloves and still felt freezing. But isnt it funny how kids just dont feel it and always refuse to wrap up.

I continuously fight with the girls to wrap up and atleast put one of there scarfs on.
But do they listen? Hell no!
Untill it really does get unbearable cold then its.
"Mum...I'm cold can we go home now"

Even though mum is always right they have to fight it!

New Year Celebrations

My brother D, his Partner J and their beautiful baby lil Miss R travelled from Essex to stay with us for New Year.

We swapped gifts, passed Miss R around for lots of kisses & cuddles.

Then relaxed with a celebratory New Years drink and challenge on the kids games consoles.

News Years Day we went to a lovely, cosy country pub for a meal.

The food and atmosphere was delightful.

Miss C gives papa a hug.
"I love My Papa"

Then hugs for Miss R from uncle K.

Time for a group pose.

And to check out the lovely winter views.

A wonderful time was had by all.
